New technologies such as augmented reality create fresh and deeply immersive ways to experience music. Flight School collaborates with innovative bands and musicians to craft special AR experiences that extend the fan experience of new albums and music memorabilia.
The SCREAM CD and collectible glow-in-the-dark 2LP vinyl contain an exclusive poster from which fans can launch the first-ever augmented reality experience created for a Michael Jackson album. Reflective of Michael Jackson’s own innovative thinking, Sony and the legendary musician’s estate teamed with Shazam and Flight School to bring the poster’s art to life. When users view the artwork through their mobile device, the all-new SCREAM illustrations are augmented with hordes of ravens, eerie smoke, an illuminated dance floor and a sampling from a newly created music track.
American rock band Umphrey’s McGee worked with us to introduce an exclusive mind-bending “Augmelted Reality” poster that reflects the band’s artful aesthetic in conjunction with their first triple-header at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. The AR technology digitally brings the vibrant colors and kaleidoscopic artwork to life through a mobile app, sparking psychedelic-induced level visuals atop the new poster. The poster has become a hotly collected item among UM fans, selling out within 24 hours of release.
